Little Common School is a large, three-form entry primary school with 22 classes, including our on-site nursery, Very Hungry Caterpillars.

From Nursery through to Year 6, we are proud to offer a carefully supported journey where children can grow, learn and thrive as part of our school community. From Reception to Year 6, there are three classes in each year group, enabling us to build strong relationships with children and families while maintaining a consistent and nurturing approach across the school.

Our school vision, Learning, Caring, Succeeding…together, is reflected in the way our school is organised and in the experiences we create for our children. We want every child to feel that they belong, that they are valued, and that they can achieve their very best.

Our classes are named after inspirational individuals from a wide range of fields, including literature, sport, music, and science, technology, engineering and mathematics. These role models have been carefully chosen, with input from our pupils, to reflect people who have made a positive difference in the world.

Many of the people we celebrate have shown ambition, creativity, confidence and resilience. Some have overcome significant challenges or prejudice, while others have used their talents to improve lives, challenge thinking or inspire change. By learning about their achievements, we encourage our children to believe that they too can make a difference.

This links closely to our school values. We want our children to be considerate, creative, confident, ambitious, resilient and healthy — not only in their learning, but in the way they treat others, approach challenges and contribute to the wider world.

In this way, our class names are not just labels — they are part of how we help children see possibility, purpose and pride in who they are becoming.
