Starting School for the First Time (4+ years)

East Sussex County Council co-ordinates school admissions for the new intake for reception, they allocate spaces based on the criteria within school admission arrangements for the current year.

For admissions, you can apply online, please visit East Sussex County Council – Admissions Select admissions. Register and then apply.

If you have applied and have been refused a place, you may add your child to our waiting list by calling Mrs Wright in the school office on 01424 842297. Please note that we recommend that your child is sent to another school whilst you are waiting for a place, as we cannot give any indication of timescales for the availability of places.

Key dates

• 12th September 2025 Applications open
• 15th January 2026 Closing date for primary schools applications
• 13th March 2026 The deadline to apply late for a school place with a good reason, for example, if you've moved into the area. You will need to supply evidence of this.
• 16th April 2026 National offer day
• TBC May 2026 Deadline to make an appeal or join the waiting list

 

In-Year Admissions

East Sussex County Council co-ordinates school in year admissions. Priority will be given in accordance with our Admissions Criteria. Applications should be made to School Admissions, you can apply online, please visit East Sussex County Council – Admissions Select admissions. Register and then apply.

These are the preferred and quickest methods to apply but if you experience difficulties please contact the school office, 01424 842297.

Appeals

Where Little Common School is unable to offer a place because of over subscription, parents have the right to appeal to an independent admission appeal panel.
